Membership

Eligibility

SYGENE is open to all professional genealogists actively performing family, probate, land and/or heraldic searches, and fully certified by the URSSAF.

New admissions must be approved by the Board of Directors with a two-thirds majority of those present or represented.

All applications must contain the following documents, the contents of which will remain strictly confidential amongst the Board of Directors.

For Individuals:

  • Birth certificate, obtained no less than three months prior to application
  • Criminal background check (bulletin n° 3), obtained no less than three months prior to application
  • K-Bis company registration certificate, obtained no less than three months prior to application
  • Photocopy of URSSAF registration certificate
  • CV
  • Two passport photos
  • Rates (for family genealogy) and/or copy of a search contract (for probate genealogy)
  • Cover letter
  • Copy of déclaration 2035 (type of French tax return), or income statements for the last two financial years
  • Full genealogy portfolio:
    For family or land genealogy, include results and written records of searches performed, plus estimates and invoices. Genealogies must date back at least five generations, in cognatic ancestry (by groups of four).

For probate genealogy, include the table used to establish devolution of property, the table delivered to the notary, and the original terms of the case. Where inheritance files have been settled, also provide proof of settlement.

In the event of an applicant being unable to provide a full portfolio at the time of their application, they must do so no later than one year after their registration.

  • Copy of the code of conduct, the present rules and regulations, and the most recent SYGENE statutes, all bearing the applicant’s signature preceded by the words lu et approuvé (‘read and approved’)

 

For Legal Entities, please also provide:

  • K-Bis company registration certificate, obtained no less than three months prior to application
  • Copy of your company’s most recent statutes
